Script analysis
Script analysis write-up: What strategies did you use to analyze your script last week and what did you find from that technique? Also, how did you revise your piece based on the findings. 300 words. Post on blog.
Last week the devising group and I worked n analyzing our script and figuring out what we needed to revise in our work so far. The strategies included:
Understanding the physicals levels in our scenes
Finding where to build up and break down emotion
Feeling Tempo and Rythm
Fluency
Plot holes
- In order to understand the levels in our scenes, we needed to physically act out the scenes. It was not until we went through the scenes, were we able to see what was awkward or seemed too boring. Our group decided to show levels by having people walking around, standing, sitting, and movement of body such as arms and legs n order to show more energy on stage as well as a a picture with various dimensions.
- By picking apart our scene’s script, we were able to (and are still trying to figure out in some places) find places where we can build up and break down emotion in order to show a “roller coaster” type build or an extremely jumpy heartbeat.
- When reciting lines together, our group started to feel a certain tempo or pace that the lines should be said at. This would speed up or slow down when the moment felt right. It is hard to explain in some aspects, but the group as obtained said feeling of a mutual tempo and beat.
- Going over lines (as we still are doing) helps with devising the script to make sure the lines are fluently converting the message our group is trying to convey.
- The most important part of revising had to be going over the scripts beginning middle and end in order to find the plot holes. After finding the plot holes, our group felt more confident in our devising piece!
