Weekly Update: 200 words

This week in theater I focused on figuring out where I should place my audience in order to allow the audience the full effect of the audio track. I first had my audience sit in the section originally made for the audience and listen to the audio track. Then I had the audience move to the stage and let them hear the audio track there. The consensus was that the audience should not be on stage with me, instead the audience should remain in the section originally made for the audience. This is because the speakers of the blac box are facing outwards from the stage, so the sound projects more. On stage, the sound sounds too muffled because the speakers are not facing the stage.  The downside about this is that it I believe will be harder to overwhelm the audience in regards to the light sensory. My next step is to figure out which lights should face towards the audience and what other lighting effects I can do in order to overwhelm my audience and keep that sensory overload that t...

Intentions and Impacts

Intentions: I would like to create a piece of theatre that brainwashes the audience to have to live inside Laura's head throughout the performance. I want the audience to feel uncomfortable and overwhelmed by Laura's actions, the eery and sporadic lighting, and ear-ringing audio. Impacts: This piece of theatre will explain what happens to Laura. It will highlight the voice that she did not have. This piece of theatre will also overwhelm the audience, so they are left with a feeling that they did not walk into the black-box with. The audience will be in shock by Laura's mind and actions.

Proposal due for Solo Project Revision

Proposal due for Solo Project Revision -- what worked well from last year and what do you want to do differently/improve upon? Be sure to watch your video from last year. 400-500 words The rough draft of my solo project was well executed. I spent a lot of time last year on truly emphasizing how to create sensory overload. I think the lighting of my project was great in terms of what colors I decided to use (green, red, yellow, white). I also believe that I executed the audio track really well. When reflecting with the class, I realized that my audio was very overwhelming for people to hear and I believe that that was the positive feedback I needed. One of the most overwhelming parts of the audio was the faint high frequency sound when the lights were blown out.  What I do need to work on and think about are these following questions: What is Laura going to be wearing? At first I had Laura wearing a creme/ white dress that almost looked ritualistic from its simplicit...
