Report on changes made to Collaborative Projects (Yr 1)

  • Group has added more stage directions and lighting, needs to finish stage props/ furniture list
  • Revolve the story around Sara
  • Understand that Sara is never really sad, but rather confused, scared, worried, angry, disgusted with herself
  • Emphasize Sara’s feelings about Marcus - Scene 2 after phone call, Sara will have a monologue where she ponders why she has found a new love for Marcus
  • Make Marcus’s feelings, thoughts, and opinions clear regarding how he sees his relationship with Sara *                               - New thought to ask group tomorrow: maybe while Marcus and Sara are on the phone in scene two, Marcus can drift off and Sara can be like, “are you thinking about her?” Or maybe later on in another scene?
  • Scene 1 with lights up on Natalie and Marcus: this scene needs to have a different feel than the original one 
  • Last Scene (6) needs revision. Scripted dialogue for the beginning of the scene with Natalie and Steve, before Sara and Marcus enter the diner.
  • End of scene 6: Once Marcus punches Steve, he tells Natalie to come with him as he wants to leave. When they are walking out, Sara tries to call to Marcus, but Marcus tells her to not call him ever again, that it’s over, he’ll see her at work. Marcus and Natalie leave. Sara is left standing in the diner and Steve is beat up on the floor. Steve tells her that she’s ruined everything. Sara does not cry though. 
  • Maybe the end will be another monologue? By Sara or Steve.  Or maybe The four characters gather to the front of the stage and explain the message? * Will discuss tomorrow with group *
  • ^^ Change of thought: End of final scene (scene 6) will be dialogue between Sara and Steve.
  • Scene 1: open with Marcus sitting on the sofa with Sara at Sara and Steve's place. Steve walks in and notices. Marcus introduces himself. Then normal scene from before plays out.

Love Is Complicated

Love Is Complicated Ideas based on stimulus The inspiration for our devising group project titled, Love is Complicated is derived from the stimulus, the painting the hole on the wall. We gathered our information and ideas about the theme of the play by recalling what we see and what we think of the art work. The very first thing that we realized/noticed about the painting is the distinctive red balloon. Obviously the balloon used to belong to the human figure on the left side and now the balloon is gone, we can tell this by looking at how the hand of the “human” is trying to reach for the balloon. Also the balloon has a shape of a heart, which is possibly referring to love. Combining love and the sense of distance/abandon, we’ve decided our topic to be about the sad facts of love. reflection

Edits, Reflection, and Audience viewpoints: I ended up changing a lot of aspects of my performance. The things that I have changed are the following: Costume for Laura Lighting Audio track Glass prop Costuming for Laura: For Laura, I originally that that she should be wearing a plain cream dress, as it is seen as more “ritualistic” which was another philosophy of Artaud. I decided to change this because I realized I don't have to focus on every aspect of Artaud. To make it more authentic to what I believed Laura would be like, I put her in a light blue ruffled dress. The light blue color was pastel enough to not take away from the lighting, but also show that Laura could be in modern times. Audience viewpoints: The audience was able to feel for Laura more as she seemed more like a realistic person in everyday life.  Lighting: The lighting was originally very simplistic.
